LANSING, Mich. - Sparrow will host a traveling exhibit that includes more than 5,000 pieces of black history memorabilia on Thursday, Jan. 12. The exhibit will be open to the public.
The Black History 101 Mobile Museum is curated by Michigan native Khalid el-Hakim and spans from the era of slavery to the birth of hip hop. The exhibit will be tailored to highlight the accomplishments of African-Americans in the history of health care while it is displayed at Sparrow.
"African-Americans have contributed a great deal to the field of health care, and we are excited to celebrate some of these historic individuals," says Jacqueline Thomas-Hall, Sparrow's Director of Diversity and Inclusion/Pastoral Care. "Not only is the exhibit open to our Caregivers and the public, we have invited Bingham Elementary School students to visit and learn from this innovative mobile museum."
The exhibit will be open to the public from 8-9 a.m. Thursday at Sparrow Clinton Hospital in St. Johns, and from noon-4 p.m. at the Sparrow Professional Building, 1200 E Michigan Ave., Lansing.
