There were tears, lots of laughs, music, dance and, most of all, a life-affirming celebration as hundreds gathered Sunday for Sparrow's Cancer Survivors Day picnic.
Savanah Carter, 10, (above) was honored with the Cancer Survivor of the Year Award. Savanah, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her leg when she was 5, has raised money for the American Cancer Society. She served as an inspiration to her grandmother, who successfully battled colon cancer.
