Cheryl Kalawert, a Secretary in Patient Support Services, was diagnosed with breast cancer in February of this year. When her department started an office decorating contest for the holidays Kalawert, who finished her last round of chemo and radiation in October, came up with the idea of a pink Christmas.

With the support of her office partner Katelyn Mullin, they have transformed their space from dull and dreary to a pink wonderland. See more photos here.

“I met Cheryl in August when I transferred to Patient Support Services,” says Mullin. “Through everything she’s been through, she’s maintained a positive attitude and has been so helpful in training me in my new role as a secretary.

“It’s been amazing to see her get excited about everything pink and have fun with it – after all, she deserves it! Every morning when I walk into our office it lifts your spirits. It’s a great reminder to take each day and live it to the fullest.

“I just want Cheryl to know that she has been so inspiring, not only to me, but to our whole department. She’s a great person and such an asset to Sparrow!”
