Dawn Hansen, a Surgery Scheduler at Sparrow Carson Hospital, doesn't just enjoy her job. She loves it.
It shows.
“Sometimes when Patients call, they just want to talk. I’ve learned a lot about Patients’ lives just by listening. Working in a smaller system, we have more of a chance to do that,” Dawn says.
The Caregiver Spotlight honors those like Dawn who provide extraordinary care, making sure the needs of our Patients always come first.
In nominating Dawn for the honor, a fellow Caregiver writes, “Dawn goes out of her way to make the department a better place to work. She goes above and beyond her duties as a scheduler every shift she works. She always has a smile on her face no matter what is going on around her. Her laugh is contagious. Dawn is a real treasure in this department and a great person to work with.”
A Sparrow Caregiver since 1983, Dawn spends most of her workday with her phone and keyboard, but is quick to help move a Patient or do whatever else is necessary.
“I’m the one who helps things move smoothly,” she says. “If I see there is a need, I’ll lend a hand.”
