When John MacKenzie refers to “the power of housekeeping,” he’s describing much more than mops and floor polishers.
“When I come to work, my goal is to make somebody’s day,” he says. “How can I get someone to smile? How can I let them know someone cares?”
As an Environmental Services Technician for Sparrow, John has a lot of contact with Patients, as well as fellow Caregivers. He’s not one to squander those opportunities.
“I’ll get them to laugh. It helps remember the good things in their lives.”
That kind of interaction, John believes, can make a difference for a Patient. The Caregiver Spotlight honors those like him who provide extraordinary care, making sure the needs of our Patients always come first.
In nominating John for Caregiver Spotlight recognition, Registered Nurse Case Manager Patti Powers wrote, “Everything about John is the Sparrow Way. He is caring, compassionate and ALWAYS friendly. When John says hello to you, (and he does to everyone) he says your name, he smiles and everything about him says he loves his job. John is a very hard worker and takes pride in what he does and goes the extra step to make sure it’s done well.”
