Dapper Dads work the crowds for votes at Sparrow fundraiser

Published: March 11, 2016

A new round of voting has started in mid-Michigan, but this contest doesn’t involve politics and cheap shots but improving the health care of the region.

It’s the Dapper Dads Challenge, a fun fundraising effort for the Sparrow Foundation involving fashionable fathers in the Lansing area.

Hosted by Women Working Wonders (W3) and the Foundation, the event kicked off Thursday at Kositchek’s in Lansing. About 50 Dads, many of whom are mid-Michigan business leaders and professionals, will campaign for this year’s top honor while raising money to support the physical and psychological health of women in mid-Michigan.

Supporters can cast ballots for their favorite Dapper Dads by donating $5 per vote at SparrowFoundation.org/DapperDads. Proceeds will go toward meeting a $1 million pledge to Sparrow’s Herbert-Herman Cancer Center that is being built across from Sparrow Hospital on Michigan Avenue in Lansing.

Voting closes at 3 p.m. June 8. The Dapper Dads Challenge wraps up June 9 with the Dapper Dads Fashion Show at Kositchek’s, where competitors will work the runway and trot out their best stuff as they compete for the most pledges and a place in the annual Dapper Dads calendar.

The Sparrow Foundation supports Sparrow’s mission to provide Patients with quality, compassionate health care through funding for equipment, educational programs, services and research. W3 is a Foundation volunteer committee that helps organize the Dapper Dads event, which has raised about $955,000 since its inception.
