Hospice, Palliative Care Director receives statewide award

LANSING, Mich. - Director of Sparrow Hospice and Palliative Care Services Michelle Wiseman has received a prestigious nurse leadership award from the Michigan Organization of Nurse Executives (MONE).

The 2011 Nurse Leadership Recognition Award was presented to Wiseman for her accomplishments, including developing Sparrow's Hospice Services and the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. She also provided leadership in the development of Sparrow's Palliative Care Service and Aspiring Nurse Leaders Program.

"I was both surprised and honored to be nominated for this award and overwhelmed when I was chosen as the recipient. I am very proud to be a nurse leader at Sparrow," said Wiseman. "In my hospice career, I have always felt blessed to lead such a passionate and committed team. They make all things possible."

Wiseman is credited for her enthusiastic and effective management and her passion for Patient-centered care.

"Michelle deserves this recognition for her focus on quality care and service," said Carol Dwyer, Sparrow's Vice President of Nursing. "She has spent her career serving as a Patient advocate, ensuring that the Patient always comes first."

The Nurse Leadership Recognition Award celebrates the accomplishments of licensed nurses working in administrative roles.
