New gingerbread house contest raises money for Pediatric ER

Published: Dec. 15, 2016

LANSING, MI – The public and media alike are invited to marvel at and judge over 20 holiday gingerbread houses created by Sparrow Caregivers and support Sparrow’s Granger Pediatric Emergency Department at the same time.

The houses include elaborate displays -- including trains, waterways, and the like -- all completed by Caregivers from throughout Sparrow, from Facilities to the Heart and Vascular Center to Sparrow Physicians Health Plan.

Sparrow’s first gingerbread house fundraiser is being held in the Demonstration Kitchen at the Gathering Place at Sparrow in the east end of the lobby of Sparrow Hospital, 1215 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing.

With a $1 donation, onlookers may vote for their favorite house in one of three categories, Healthcare, Traditional, or Most Creative.

Voting runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today (Thursday, Dec. 15) and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16. Winners will be announced at 2 p.m.

Donations will go to the Sparrow Foundation and be used for the region’s only full-service Pediatric Emergency Department.

At the same time, visitors can enjoy the Gathering Place, Sparrow’s new modern and upscale dining area. It features fresh, healthy and local, quality cuisine and a variety of food stations, along with bright open spaces and a wall of glass with a view along Michigan Avenue.

Choose Wisely. Choose Sparrow.
