Gamers can play to help Sparrow Children’s Center and CMN

Published: Oct. 11, 2012

Attention all gamers: here's a chance to play video games for hours and help the young Patients at Sparrow Children's Center.

A 24-hour gaming marathon will be held nationally starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, to raise funds for Children's Miracle Network hospitals, such as Sparrow.

Participants may simply ask friends and family to sponsor their efforts with a monthly pledge or a one-time gift. Then, they can have a seat anywhere and play games with others across the nation. Games can be played on any platforms, including a mobile device. Many participants choose to play only video games, but participants can also play tabletop or other games.

Sign up is at www.extra-life.org and donations can be allocated for your local CMN hospital, including Sparrow.

Sparrow is the first hospital in mid-Michigan to offer a dedicated children's unit and is home to the region's only full-service pediatric emergency department. As the region's CMN hospital, Sparrow is able to provide families the most advanced technology and treatment options in pediatric and neonatal care.
