Greater Lansing Building Trades Council generosity honored

LANSING, Mich. - Two rooms in a Sparrow surgical recovery unit have been dedicated to the Greater Lansing Building Trades Council in honor of a $50,000 pledge to support care at Sparrow.

The pledge came from the Lansing Building Trades Endowment, which funds Sparrow projects involving union contractors. Through the endowment, the Trades Council has supported the creation of a Healing Garden at Sparrow and the two surgical care recovery rooms.

A ceremony was held last week to dedicate the rooms and unveil plaques recognizing the Building Trades Council, comprised of major labor unions in the Lansing area.

"It's about giving back and supporting the community. Sparrow supports the community and so do we," said James Bitzer, president of the Building Trades Council.

Building Trades Council leaders were lauded for not only their generosity but the craftsmanship their members have brought to Sparrow projects.

"We are so grateful to the Greater Lansing Building Trades Council and look forward to continuing the close relationship we have developed over the years," said Stella Cash, Sparrow Vice President of Development and Strategic Partnerships.
