Denise Pratt, an E.W. Sparrow Hospital Pharmacist, goes above and beyond to meet the needs of critically ill patients, even going to a patient’s bedside to ensure a medication is administered safely.
As a clinical pharmacist, Denise makes daily rounds with physicians in several areas of the hospital – from the Emergency Department to intensive care units – to discuss the medication needs of patients and find solutions. And for Denise, sometimes finding a solution means staying late to research available options, which she feels is her duty.
“If it was my family member, I would want someone there to do the same thing,” says Denise. “I try to look at each patient as, what if this was my family member, what if this was somebody that I loved?”
Denise goes above and beyond to provide the best possible care for every patient she encounters. That’s one reason Denise is this month’s Caregiver Spotlight.
