Lansing-area Wendy's restaurants have raised more than $134,000 for the Sparrow Children's Center.
This year, the restaurants' annual fundraising campaign leading up to the Sparrow Children's Center Telethon raised more than $13,000 to support our youngest Patients and their families. The "Give a Dollar, Get a Dollar" campaign collected donations from customers in exchange for a coupon for their next visit.
"The main reason we got involved is that it's the right thing to do to take care of the children," said Randy Israel, one of the partners who owns the area restaurants. "My customers and my employees all have children who are served by Sparrow."
Giving back to the community is one of Wendy's important values, said Israel. There is also a room in the Children's Center sponsored by Wendy's and named Wendy's Way.
The donation from Wendy's was given during the Sparrow Children's Center Telethon, which was held May 31 and June 1 on WILX. The Telethon raised $980,996 for Sparrow Children's Center, and donations are still being accepted by visiting www.sparrowfoundation.org.
For more than a century, Sparrow has been a leader in caring for children. The first hospital in mid-Michigan to offer a dedicated children's unit, Sparrow today is home to the region's only full-service pediatric emergency department. As the region's Children's Miracle Network Hospital, Sparrow is able to provide the most advanced technology and treatment options in pediatric and neonatal care.
