Three women from Carson City decided they wanted to do something fun for their community and ended up raising over $5,800 for the Carson Foundation and local healthcare.
Nora Ryan, Ronda Schneider, and Ronda Smith planned the Concert for Hope as a way to bring the region together, break up the winter blues and raise money for a great cause. The ladies knew they wanted the proceeds from the concert to benefit a local organization with deep ties to improving the surrounding community. For that reason, they chose the Carson Foundation as the beneficiary.
The evening was filled with music of all genres, from country to classic rock, and the Concert for Hope was a hit with all attendees. The concert featured the band Jedi Mind Trip with special guest Monique Doolittle and the women are already making plans for next year’s concert.
“When the three ladies came to me with the idea of a concert, I was instantly excited for the event and honored that they choose the Carson Foundation to receive the proceeds. It’s nice to see a small group think of such an out-of-the-box philanthropic cause,” says Carson Foundation Executive Director Shelly Weaver.
Past community efforts from the Carson Foundation include purchasing safety helmets for Kids Health and Safety Day, First Aid kits for the Carson City Police Department, and purchasing AED equipment for area schools, among other endeavors.
