Memorial service held to remember, honor pediatric Patients

Published: Dec. 16, 2014

Parents and Sparrow Caregivers recently gathered to remember and honor pediatric Patients who passed away during the last six years.

There was a moment of silence for the children as well as words of encouragement, music, and candle lighting. Each child’s name was read.

“They were your beloved children. They were our Patients who we also loved,” said Stephen Guertin, M.D., Medical Director of the Sparrow Children's Center. “It is our privilege to have cared for them, to have known you in so doing, to have had a share of them for a brief time, and to remember them with you now.”

Families received a memory box and charm. The items were donated by the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Sparrow plans to make the memorial service an annual event.
