The Pediatric Sub-Specialty Clinic recently celebrated the generosity of two important donors. The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) presented the Peds Sub-Specialty Clinics with a $2,500 donation.
The Million Dollar Round Table's (MDRT) ongoing support of the Peds Sub-Specialty Clinics has been phenomenal, thanks to the advocacy and sponsorship of C. Richard Herrold. Herrold is an Emeritus Member of the Sparrow Foundation Board of Directors and long-time supporter of the health system and our community who was also honored at the dedication.
Dick and Susan Herrold have created future endowments through their estate plans that will provide perpetual funding for Sparrow's Pediatric programs and Hospice Services.
Since 2003, MDRT has awarded 5 grants to Sparrow, totaling $14,000, for a variety of pediatric health related equipment and educational materials. The 2011 gift will be used, to purchase a Detecto 6475 Digital Chair Scale, otoscopes and blood pressure kits for the Sparrow Regional Children's Center/Pediatric Subspecialty Clinics, which provide extensive services for children and their families in the areas of Pediatric Developmental Assessment, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Cleft Palate/Myelodysplasia, and Nephrology.
The patient population seen by this subspecialty group is comprised of children and families with broad reaching, complex health concerns requiring a multidisciplinary medical team, highly specialized treatment plans, and advanced technology. Many times the specialty clinics may be the only location for treatment of these children and the last glimmer of hope for their families.
