Sparrow is pleased to welcome Jennifer Hoffman, M.D., and Robert Long, M.D., as new core faculty members within its OB-GYN Residency program.

Both Physicians will care for expectant mothers in labor, manage obstetric emergencies and educate OB Residents.

“Having a Physician always available on site to see Patients in the Labor and Delivery suite improves the quality of medical care as well as the quality of Resident education,” said Associate OB-GYN Residency Program Director Mark G. Lewis, D.O.

As a member of the OB-GYN residency faculty, Dr. Long works alongside Sparrow’s Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, as well as all the OB Physicians within the department. His main focus is to educate Residents to allow them to provide quality and safe care for our Patients.

Dr. Long attended medical school at the University of Michigan and completed his residency in Wisconsin. Prior to coming to Sparrow, Dr. Long was a Laborist and Resident educator at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.

Dr. Hoffman is the newest edition to the OB-GYN residency faculty. She completed her education at the University of Michigan Medical School and residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Penn. She has been in community general OB-GYN practice for 14 years, most recently at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Dr. Hoffman will work alongside Dr. Long as an OB Laborist, as well as seeing Patients at the Ingham County Health Department and educating Residents in Sparrow’s OB-GYN Women’s Center ambulatory clinic.

Sparrow is the region’s most popular birthing center, delivering about 4,000 babies a year. With more than a quarter-million baby deliveries to our credit, Sparrow is the premier birthing hospital in mid-Michigan.
