Mothers of babies at Sparrow’s Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (RNICU) are getting a special gift for Mother’s Day.

Photographer Sabreena Konsdorf is providing a picture free of charge. Konsdorf, whose business is based in Howell, recently spent time at Sparrow snapping shots of nearly 30 moms and their little ones.

Christina Flores, of Lansing, was one of them. Her daughter London was born Friday, May 1. She is Flores’ first child.

“It is a wonderful thing,” Flores said.

Sparrow’s RNICU at the Sparrow Children's Center provides intensive around-the-clock care for premature newborn babies and sick full-term babies. Each year Sparrow's RNICU cares for nearly 600 acutely ill infants from throughout mid-Michigan.

Konsdorf is passionate about photographing babies. A Sparrow RNICU volunteer is a client of hers and asked if she would be willing to donate to her time and pictures.

“I believe families are very important,” Konsdorf said. “I love being able to capture moments like these.”

The pictures will be framed and delivered by Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10. Additional photos can be ordered at a discounted price.
