Physician to lead Bosnian-Hercegovinian Organization

Sparrow Cancer Center Clinical Trials Director Gordan Srkalovic, M.D., PhD, FACP, of Okemos, has been elected to serve as President of a prestigious organization of leaders from Bosnia.

Dr. Srkalovic will lead the Bosnian-Hercegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a growing organization comprised of physicians, academicians, researchers, financial specialists and artists from Bosnia-Herzegovina - on the Balkan Peninsula in Southeastern Europe - currently living in North America.

The Academy, formed in 2007, aims to provide connections between Bosnian professionals abroad to foster cooperation with the homeland and promote the free exchange of ideas in the belief that knowledge is shareable wealth.

Dr. Srkalovic earned his medical degree from the University of Sarajevo and his PhD at University of Tuzla, Bosnia and Hercegovina. He practiced at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio before coming to Sparrow 10 years ago.

As Clinical Trials Director at the Sparrow Cancer Center, Srkalovic oversees more than 20 clinical trials dedicated to treating all types of cancer. He also practices as a Hematologist-Medical Oncologist at Sparrow and holds a Clinical Associate Professor position at Michigan State University.
