Playmakers to take over hosting Michigan Mile

Published: February 24, 2023

LANSING, MI – Playmakers and the Playmakers Fitness Foundation have agreed to host and carry forward one of the area’s great family events, the Sparrow Michigan Mile.

Playmakers will take over from Sparrow in leading the one-mile fun run, annually attended by thousands of kids of all ages. Sparrow has hosted the event for over 25 years, with Playmakers serving as its long-standing partner. The Michigan Mile has been a wonderful way to promote fitness and positively impact families throughout the community.

“Playmakers and the Playmakers Fitness Foundation are excited to receive the baton from Sparrow and continue hosting the Michigan Mile,” said Joe Dimambro, of Playmakers Fitness Foundation. “We have always appreciated working with the Sparrow team in a collaborative effort on this event and are honored to now be leading the charge with Sparrow's support. We look forward to continuing the tradition of this amazing kids event that helps all of Greater Lansing move more and move better, and can't wait to see everyone on Sunday, June 11, for the 2023 Michigan Mile!”

Sparrow officials said they were looking to turn the event over to experts in fitness and health and wellness, and Playmakers was a natural fit.
