Respiratory Care Week Oct. 19-25: The Breath of Life

Published: Oct. 20, 2014

Respiratory Therapists touch all parts of a hospital. They are responsible for all life support systems, attending all code blues, rapid responses, Level 1 traumas in the ER and all high risk deliveries of babies.

During the last year the Respiratory Therapy department at Sparrow hospital cared for more than 1,600 Patients, with COPD, Asthma, or Bronchiolitis. They have also worked hard to implement new protocols that benefit Patients by ensuring that they are fitted with the proper device to keep the airways of the lungs cleared and determine if the correct amounts of breathing treatments have been ordered.

Whether it is a critical care floor or general medical floor a respiratory therapist is always there to help you breathe easier.
