Sparrow's Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit kicked off the Kangaroo-a-thon today to encourage parents to hold their infants skin-to-skin.
Parents of babies in the RNICU will be entered into drawings for several prizes anytime they hold their baby skin-to-skin during the next two weeks. Parents of babies who cannot be held skin-to-skin will be entered into the drawings by providing special, meaningful touches.
Skin-to-skin, or kangaroo care, helps promote growth, development, bonding and breastfeeding.
