Runners/Walkers stretch legs and limits in Mint City Races

Area runners and walkers hit the streets Saturday, Aug. 2, for the Mint City Races sponsored by Sparrow Clinton Hospital with support from Playmakers.

The 10 Mile Race kicks off at 7:30 a.m., but participants are advised to arrive at St. Johns Middle School, 900 W. Townsend, no later than 6:45 a.m. to ensure registration.

The 5K run/walk begins at 8:15 a.m. Kids Races start at 9a.m. with the 300 meter age 5 and younger class followed by the 1 Mile age 5 and older class.

Mint City Races are part of the Playmakers’ summer series of races. Adult runs/walks are ChampionChip® Timed. Competitive age divisions cover budding athletes younger than 25 years old as well as veterans who are over 65.

Entry fee is $30 by Aug.t 1 (noon) and $35 on race day. This fee is non-refundable.

Proceeds from the Mint City Races benefit the St. Johns High School cross-country teams, Goodwins Key Club and the Student Council. Now in its 10th year, this event has donated more than $52,500 to date.
