Sparrow, partners receive national stroke awareness honor

LANSING, Mich. - Sparrow, in partnership with other Michigan health care organizations, has received national recognition for innovative stroke efforts in Michigan.

The National Stroke Association this week honored Value Health Partners with an award for "Most Creative Approach" to stroke awareness. Value Health Partners consists of Sparrow and seven other Michigan health systems focused on creating greater value for Patients and communities.

In recognition of Stroke Awareness Month in May, the partnership engaged high school students in a Stroke Prevention Student Video Competition.

The Sparrow Stroke Center is the only one in the region accredited as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and was recognized for quality earlier this year at the International Stroke Conference in Los Angeles. This summer, the Sparrow Stroke Center received a "Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award in Stroke" from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
