Sparrow, Mary Free Bed establish Lansing joint venture

Sparrow Hospital and Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital have joined together to create Mary Free Bed at Sparrow, a joint venture providing advanced inpatient rehabilitation care for Patients in the mid-Michigan region.

The rehabilitation unit at Sparrow will expand to 40 private Patient rooms and two therapy gymnasiums, which will be built during the next 18 to 24 months.

In 2012, Sparrow and Mary Free Bed signed a Coordination of Care Agreement, formalizing a longstanding relationship and fostering greater collaboration between our medical professionals to establish joint protocols, exchange evidence-based best practices, and coordinate Patient care between hospitals.

"The establishment of Mary Free Bed at Sparrow supports our joint missions to provide highly specialized rehabilitative care for our Patients," says Kris Tennant, Director of Mary Free Bed at Sparrow. Tennant previously held the position of Director of Rehabilitation at Sparrow.

Mary Free Bed has the most comprehensive rehabilitation services in the state. Sparrow is the largest provider of inpatient rehabilitation care in mid-Michigan and has the region's only Level l Trauma Center.
