Sparrow Knee and Hip Replacement honored as Blue Distinction® Center

Sparrow has been honored as a Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement℠, meaning it demonstrates a high performance level in caring for patients. The honor comes from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network. A Blue Distinction Center must meet stringent clinical criteria developed with input from the nation's top physicians. Sparrow Orthopedics is a leader in knee and hip replacement. The hospital features a 29-bed Orthopedic Unit with all private rooms and a dedicated orthopedic nursing rehabilitation team.

Sparrow Occupational Health named top 10 provider

Sparrow Occupational Health Services has been designated a top 10 provider by a leading national network of clinics. The Maryland-based Corporate Health Resources, Inc. bases the honor on a variety of factors, such as completeness of medical records and positive feedback from patients. The company refers patients to a network of more than 10,000 occupational health clinics and collection centers nationwide. Sparrow Occupational Health Services offers pre-employment physicals, 24-hour work related injury care and drug screen collection, return-to-work exams and numerous other services. It provides medical care for more than 450 local employers.

Sparrow Oncology recognized among tops in nation

The Sparrow Cancer Center's medical oncology services is among the first oncology practices in the nation to receive a special certification denoting that it meets the highest standards of cancer care. Sparrow met numerous quality and safety measures to receive the Quality Oncology Practice Initiatives designation, including how patients received chemotherapy and how their pain was managed. The honor is regarded as the gold standard of oncology care. Sparrow's medical oncology practice is among only three in Michigan, and 16 in the country, to receive the certification. The designation is given by the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the world's leading organization for physicians who care for people with cancer.
