It was a beautiful but hot day at the ballpark on Sunday, Aug. 9, when four Sparrow Caregivers were recognized for going above and beyond.

Nominated by their fellow Caregivers because they possess qualities that embody the mission, vision, and values of Sparrow, Kelly Evans, Angelo Librizzi, Barbara Wells, and Bhagya Venkatesh, M.D. were introduced to the crowd from center field, received Sparrow swag bags, and enjoyed the game with their families in a suite hosted by Sparrow Health System.

Kelly Evans, Customer Service
Kelly is a Customer Service Caregiver at Physicians Health Plan. She was recently named the “Quality Monitoring and Training Specialist” and has been with Sparrow/PHP since 2004. Her commitment to PHP and the customer service staff is second to none. She is creative, compassionate, accountable, and inspires her coworkers to achieve more.

Angelo Librizzi, IT Security Analyst
Angelo works in the IT Division of the Office of Security Information. He represents what a Caregiver is all about at Sparrow. He works hard to make sure that programs are available to Caregivers so they can continue to offer exceptional Patient care. He is positive, professional, and knowledgeable about his work.

Barbara Wells, Medical Assistant
Barbara is a Caregiver at the Grand Ledge Urgent Care. She was nominated for exhibiting an exemplary attitude, promoting a positive atmosphere, and for consistently going the extra mile with Patient care. Barb keeps office morale high and is respected by both her co-workers and her Patients.

Bhagya Venkatesh, M.D., Pediatric Physician
Dr. Venkatesh is a Physician at SMG-Portland and one of the first full-time pediatricians in that area. She has built a successful practice in only two short years and is well regarded in the community for the personal follow-up calls and flexible scheduling she offers. Dr. Venkatesh is a kind and caring professional and the Portland community is lucky to have her.

As we strive to provide quality, compassionate care to every Patient, every time, it is the work Caregivers do every day that makes the difference. Congratulations to our 2015 Super Heroes!
