CARSON CITY, MI – In honor of National Nurses Week, Sparrow Carson Hospital recognized Medical Surgical Services nurse Jodie Diaz, RN, as its 2023 Nurse of the Year for her dedication to providing quality, compassionate care to patients.

Diaz has been at Sparrow Carson for nearly 28 years and is an inspiration to her fellow co-workers with her work ethic, nursing skills, and kindness to everyone she encounters. According to her nomination, Diaz goes above and beyond to make her patients feel like they are her only priority. During uncertain times, she is even known to sing with patients to help them feel at ease.

“She is a cornerstone to the Med/Surg Unit. She represents the best in best practice and is a shining example of a standout nurse,” said Stacey Snyder, Medical Surgical Services Nursing Manager. “We are grateful to her and the expertise she brings to her patients, patient families and to the other staff.
