Sparrow Carson Hospital Names Nurse of the Year

CARSON CITY, Mich. – During National Nurses week, May 6-12, during at a hybrid-style event held on Wed., May 12 in Sparrow Carson’s Conference Center, Sparrow Carson administration took the opportunity to recognize the many incredible barriers staff have endured and overcome this past year. Attendance was limited to presenters, Nurse of the Year nominees and their guest, while the remainder of the attendees watched virtually.

During the event, Tabitha Durant, RN was named as Sparrow Carson Hospitals 2021 Nurse of the year. Durant is a Surgical Services nurse who also helps on the Medical Surgical floor when her co-workers need an extra hand. She also has received three Daisy Award nominations from patients for the excellent care she provides. Her nomination mentioned her willingness during COVID to help on shifts and days she doesn’t normally work so patients can get the care they need. “Tabitha is a prime example of what nursing is all about!”

As a recipient of the 2021 Nurse of the Year Durant received a certificate, large bouquet of flowers, an engraved stethoscope with her name, and a Sparrow swag bag full of goodies. Nominees for the 2021 Nurse of the Year also included Laura Lambright, RN and Kimberly Tissue, RN.
