Sparrow Carson Hospital welcomes first baby of 2016

Published: Jan. 7, 2016

Charlotte June was right on schedule when she arrived at Sparrow Carson Hospital, becoming the first baby born at the hospital in the new year.

Charlotte was born at 12:23 p.m. on Saturday to first-time parents Andrea and Rex Coffin of Fowler. She weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce and measured 22 inches long.

Charlotte was born on her due date, but her parents were happily surprised to discover she was the first baby of the new year. The Coffins were thrilled when presented with baby items donated by Sparrow Carson Caregivers and the Carson Apothecary and Gift Shoppe, including diapers, wipes, bottles, and more.

“We were honored to celebrate the occasion with the family and to present them with the gift basket as they begin their journey in 2016,” said Shelly Weaver, Sparrow Carson Manager of Strategic Partnerships and Development.

Proud grandparents are Thomas and Cheryl Townsend of Maple Rapids, and Christopher and Brandi Coffin of Maple Rapids.
