The Delta Dental Foundation, in partnership with the Sparrow Foundation, is funding an initiative to provide customized oral health kits to every Patient admitted to Sparrow Hospital.
About 50,000 pre-packaged kits were funded by a $175,000 grant. Each kit includes a high-quality soft-bristle toothbrush, mouthwash, toothpaste with sodium bicarbonate, alcohol-free antiseptic mouthwash, and a suction toothbrush for Patients who can’t spit or swallow.
A reception will celebrate this shared commitment to a project that will reduce hospital stays, lower costs, and improve Patient health by helping to reduce cases of hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP), the second most common infection that originates in a hospital.
The reception takes place Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 4-6 p.m. at Sparrow Tower, 10th Floor, 1215 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing.
