LANSING, MI – Sparrow Nurses pave the way to Patient safety, quality outcomes and compassionate care, and Sparrow is planning a week’s worth of special activities to recognize our extraordinary Nursing team. The activities are part of National Nurses Week, May 6-12.

Sparrow Hospital Nurses will be treated to a Spa Day, stretching and de-stress breaks, Taco Tuesday, a delivery of chocolate, and even a visit from some canine friends to provide a little dog therapy. The annual Nurses Tea – including the naming of the Sparrow Nurse of the Year – will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday.

There will also be many activities at our Community Hospitals.

At Sparrow Carson, Nurses will be celebrated with a program on Tuesday, including the naming of the Sparrow Carson Nurse of the Year. There will also be a Caregiver breakfast and ice cream truck during the week to satisfy any culinary needs, and random drawings will award various prizes.

Sparrow Clinton Hospital will distribute popcorn and mocktails and provide chair massages for Nurses, along with a Nurses Week webinar and a tea on Friday that includes the Nurse of the Year presentation.

Sparrow Ionia Hospital held a kickoff appreciation breakfast today and will hold its annual Nurses Tea and breakfast, with its Nurse of the Year announcement, on Tuesday. Nurses will also receive massages, enjoy a treat day, and a pizza lunch and photo booth.

By consistently going above and beyond, our Nurses have helped Sparrow Hospital become part of the 6 percent of hospitals nationwide to receive Magnet recognition. The designation is the nation’s most prestigious honor for Nursing achievement and excellence and is considered the “gold standard” for Nursing care in hospitals.
