Sparrow Children’s Center cutting hair for wigs and kids

The Sparrow Children’s Center invites the public to “share their hair” at a Hair-a-Thon in honor of Childhood Cancer Month on Saturday, Sept. 12, 10 a.m. to noon at Sparrow Hospital Main Lobby. Stylists will be on site to cut hair to be donated to Michigan-based organizations that provide free wigs for children and adolescents who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other causes.

Minimum donation length iseight inches. Hair must be clean and in good condition. Chemically treated and partially gray hair is accepted. Monetary donations and previously cut ponytails or braids are welcome. Free parking for this event will be available in the hospital visitor’s ramp.
