Sparrow Comprehensive Stroke Center earns top national honor

LANSING, MI – For the second year in a row, Sparrow Hospital and its Comprehensive Stroke Center has received the highest level of recognition for stroke care nationally.

The Stroke Center has been honored by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association with the Get with The Guidelines®-Stroke GOLD PLUS achievement award and Target: Stroke Elite Gold Plus Honor Roll.The honors recognize Sparrow for its continued success in using standards set by the Get With The Guidelines®- Stroke and Target: Stroke℠ program.

For Mid-Michigan Patients, this means Sparrow provides the most up-to-date treatment, which means improved care and outcomes.

The Get With The Guidelines®- Stroke and Target: Stroke℠ program measures factors such as the proper use of medications and other stroke treatments, with the goal of speeding recovery and reducing death and disability for stroke Patients. Before discharge, Patients also receive education on managing their health.

Sparrow is the region’s only hospital to be designated as a Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center by The Joint Commission. The designation – given to an elite network of facilities nationwide – recognizes centers that make exceptional efforts toward delivering the best care possible to "complex stroke" Patients.
