Sparrow Hospital has been named a Blue Distinction® Center + in three areas of specialty care: Cardiac Care, Knee and Hip Replacement, and Maternity Care.
Blue Distinction Specialty Care is a national designation program of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, recognizing healthcare facilities that demonstrate expertise in delivering quality specialty care safely and effectively. The + distinction indicates that Sparrow not only meets the quality‐focused, Patient safety and outcome criteria required to be a Blue Distinction Center, but also undertakes cost of care measures to do it efficiently.
The evaluation criteria is based on the factors that most impact Patients, including the expertise of the care team, the number of times the facility has performed the specialty procedures, and the facility’s track record for procedure results. To receive the Blue Distinction Center designation, each specialty care program demonstrated success in meeting important Patient safety measures, as well as specialty-specific quality measures.
