Breastfeeding Clinic featured for World Breastfeeding Week

Published: August 5, 2015

During this World Breastfeeding Week (Aug. 1-7), Sparrow is highlighting the new Sparrow Breastfeeding Clinic, a unique service to provide support to moms and promote a positive experience with their baby.

The Clinic offers 30 minutes with a Physician (the only Physician consultation for breastfeeding available in the area) and 30 minutes with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

Whether a mom is just home from the hospital or several months have passed, our team of specially trained Caregivers can provide advice for common problems such as insufficient milk supply, improper latching, painful feedings, and more.

“Sparrow is committed to breast feeding support by providing prenatal education, in-hospital consultation, and now an outpatient clinic devoted exclusively to breastfeeding,” said Sparrow pediatrician Colleen M. Barry, M.D. “At the clinic, both a Physician and Lactation Consultant are available to spend the time needed to give babies and their families the best beginning.”

To schedule an appointment at the Clinic, have your Physician make a referral through CareMatch for Kids at 1.855.717.KIDS (5437) or 517.364.5710.

Sparrow is mid-Michigan’s only Baby-Friendly® Hospital. The Baby-Friendly Initiative (BFHI) is a global program of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
