Sparrow Home Care celebrates 25th anniversary

LANSING, Mich. - Sparrow Home Care, a division of the Sparrow Health System, celebrates its 25th anniversary this month.

In October 1984, Sparrow Home Care was certified to accept Medicare patients. Since then, Sparrow Home Care's staff of registered nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists, home health aides and social workers have completed hundreds of thousands of home visits to patients throughout the mid-Michigan region.

Sparrow Home Care has also received numerous awards including:

  • Home Care Elite award - received in 2006 and 2007 from Outcome Concept Systems recognizes programs in the top 25 percent of agencies in the nation
  • Vision Award - received in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 from Outcome Concept Systems recognizes home care agencies actively engaged in improvement of quality of care and reduction of readmission to the hospital
  • 2008 Michigan Award of Excellence - from the Michigan Peer Review Organization for improving care in the home health setting by decreasing acute care re-hospitalizations.

Today, Sparrow Home Care associates make more than 40,000 patient home visits a year traveling nearly a quarter million miles.
