Sparrow honors Nurses as “The Essential Piece”

Published: May 4, 2018

LANSING, MI – Sparrow Nurses deserve to be appreciated every day of the year for their tireless care of Patients in the mid-Michigan region, and Sparrow is planning a week’s worth of special activities, on all shifts, to recognize our extraordinary Nursing team.

The activities are part of National Nurses Week, May 6-12, and honor Nurses as “The Essential Piece.”

Sparrow Nurses will be treated to a Spa Day, including massages, paraffin hand treatments, hair styling and refreshments; Taco Tuesday at the Demonstration Kitchen at the Gathering Place at Sparrow; a chocolate delivery to Nurses at Sparrow Hospital and the Sparrow St. Lawrence Campus; and an Ice Cream Social.

The week will be highlighted by a 10 a.m. Thursday reception at Sparrow Hospital featuring Bonnie and Mark Barnes, the national co-founders of the DAISY Awards to recognize extraordinary Nurses. The annual Nurses Tea – including the naming of the Sparrow Nurse of the Year – will be held at 2 p.m. that day, followed by a Celebration of Sparrow Nurses at 9 p.m. in the Demonstration Kitchen.

By consistently going above and beyond, our Nurses have helped Sparrow become part of the 6 percent of hospitals nationwide to receive Magnet recognition. This designation is the nation’s most prestigious honor for Nursing achievement and excellence and is considered the “gold standard” for Nursing care in hospitals.

Choose Wisely. Choose Sparrow.
