The 2015 Hike/Bike for Hospice, held Sunday, May 17, at Granger Meadows Park in DeWitt, was a touching tribute to those who have ended life's journey. It honored the path every life takes and those whose journey finds them in the compassionate care of Sparrow Hospice Services.
Participants included Lisa, a former Patient who survived hospice care, and her family. Hers is a unique story.
“I cannot say enough good things about Sparrow’s hospice care. I never felt alone or afraid,” said Lisa. “The Hospice House of Mid-Michigan was a beautiful place to be. The Nurses I spent time with are incredible people.”
This year’s event featured a 5K hike, 30 mile bike ride and a bike/run for kids 4-10 years of age.
“It is an opportunity to remember and offer hope and support for our families in a way that also supports the continued delivery of compassionate hospice care in mid-Michigan for those to come,” said Michelle Wiseman, Director of Sparrow Hospice and Palliative Care Services.
The Hike/Bike event featured a remembrance room, picket fence memorial, hiking and biking trails, food, and kids’ activities including a petting zoo, bounce house, face painting, and touch-a-truck.
