Portland student earns Sparrow Ionia Foundation scholarship

The Sparrow Ionia Hospital Foundation has presented a $500 scholarship to Emily Miros, a graduating senior from Portland St. Patrick High School, to help allow her to pursue a career in healthcare.

Emily plans on continuing her education in biomedical science at Central Michigan University with the goal of becoming a Physician Assistant.

The award was presented by Mike Lehman, Foundation Board member, at the recent St. Pat’s Senior Awards dinner.

The Sparrow Ionia Hospital Foundation is a not-for-profit organization and has been providing scholarships for hospital Caregivers pursuing or continuing their education in the health care field for over 20 years. The goal was to help Caregivers achieve their healthcare educational goals and, in turn, encourage them to remain in the area and help bring quality, compassionate care to Ionia County.

The Sparrow Ionia Hospital Foundation Board made a decision four years ago to extend the scholarship gift to Ionia County graduating seniors looking to further their education in a healthcare field. The Foundation this year is awarding a $500 scholarship to at least one senior from each high school in the county.

Choose Wisely. Choose Sparrow.
