LANSING, MI – Sparrow Hospital has been named one of the nation’s Most Wired Hospitals in the country, following the continued success of the iSparrow electronic medical record system and other major technological advances to improve Patient care.

Sparrow was recognized in the 19th Annual Health Care’s Most Wired® survey, conducted by Hospitals & Health Networks and sponsored by the American Hospital Association (AHA). The survey explored an organization’s capabilities in four focus areas: infrastructure, business and administrative management, clinical quality and safety, and clinical integration.

“We are extremely proud to be named among such an elite group of hospitals,” said Tom Bres, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, Sparrow Health System. “Every day we work together with talented teams of operational and clinical Caregivers to provide the best in Patient care through leading-edge technology.”

Most Wired hospitals are transforming care delivery through knowledge gained from data and analytics. They are investing in analytics to support new delivery models and effective decision-making, and training clinicians on how to use analytics to improve quality, provide access, and control costs.

“At Sparrow, our analytics investments empower our Caregivers and Patients to achieve the best possible outcomes. In the next year, we’ll be deploying new intelligence tools, which broaden our wellness and population health capabilities to meet the growing needs of our communities,” Bres said.

Sparrow’s use of digital data and electronic medical records are essential to helping transform care for our Patients. We are committed to being a technology leader in healthcare.

Besides the iSparrow system, Sparrow has demonstrated its innovation through MyChart Bedside technology, in which Patients are supplied iPads while in the hospital to check their vital signs and lab results, communicate with their care team, and learn more about their care.

Health Care’s Most Wired® survey, conducted from Jan. 15 to March 15, 2017, is published annually by Hospitals & Health Networks (H&HN). The Health Care’s Most Wired® survey and benchmarking study is a leading industry barometer measuring information technology (IT) use and adoption among hospitals nationwide. The survey of 698 participants represents an estimated 2,158 hospitals – about 40 percent of all hospitals in the U.S.

Detailed results can be found in the July issue of H&HN.
