Sparrow names Controller for health system

Sparrow has named Kevin Essenmacher, who has over 14 years’ experience in healthcare financing, as the health system's new Controller.

Essenmacher, of Holt, is a CPA who has served for eight years as Controller of Sparrow's Physicians Health Plan and brings his health plan knowledge, along with his familiarity of the health system, to his new role. Essenmacher has a background in a variety of financial services, including accounting, financial reporting, analytics, budgeting, and financial planning.

He will leverage his experience to help Sparrow continue its responsible stewardship of resources to support the organization's mission to improve the health of the people of our communities and its vision to be a national leader in quality and Patient experience.

Essenmacher also served as Interim Controller/Treasurer for Sparrow Specialty Hospital and as an audit manager and accountant at Plante & Moran in East Lansing.

He is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in Accounting Information Systems.
