On Tuesday, March 10, Sparrow Ob-Gyn residents Ahizechukwu Eke, M.D., MPH, and Alicia Hoffman, D.O., met with legislators on Capitol Hill to rally support for additional graduate medical education residency training positions.
They were part of a 13 member delegation of Ob-Gyns from Michigan led by Matt Allswede, M.D., who is Vice-Chair of the Michigan Section of American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Ob-Gyn Residency Program Director at Sparrow.
While in Washington DC, Dr. Eke, who is the Junior Fellow Chair of the Michigan Section, received the "Rising Star In Advocacy" award from the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for his legislative work with the Section and for creating a grassroots advocacy program promoting breast cancer screening and prevention.
Dr. Hoffman is a 2014 graduate of the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine who has experience lobbying Congress on behalf of the American Osteopathic Association.
