Sparrow pleased by contract ratification

LANSING, Michigan -- The Nurses and health care professionals of Sparrow Hospital have ratified a new three-year contract. The contract was approved by three-fourths of those who voted. A tentative agreement was reached Nov. 18 between Sparrow and the union representing Nurses and professional staff. The previous contract was set to expire Nov. 19. We are pleased by the contract ratification by members of the Michigan Nurses Association and look forward to continuing our partnership with our professional staff. This is a landmark agreement that provides benchmark level wages, benefits and staffing levels to our RNs and other professional Associates. It ranks Sparrow as one of the top hospitals in the nation in terms of working environment for our Nurses and other professional staff. This agreement builds on Sparrow's 114-year history of delivering high-quality services to the mid-Michigan region. The MNA/Professional Employees Council of Sparrow Hospital represents about 2,100 professional Associates, including about 1,600 Nurses. The balance includes pharmacists, social workers, medical technicians and other specialties. These Associates are important partners in our mission to improve the health of the people of our communities by providing quality, compassionate care to everyone, every time
