Sparrow forum features national expert on epilepsy

Published: March 21, 2016

The Sparrow Foundation hosts a free forum Thursday, March 24, aimed at demystifying and raising awareness about epilepsy, which affects one in 26 people in their lifetime.

Nationally renowned researcher Kenneth Laxer, M.D., will discuss medications, controlling seizures and other issues during “The Science and Magic of Epilepsy Treatment” from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center’s Lincoln Room at Michigan State University. Dr. Laxer is Director of the Sutter Pacific Epilepsy Program at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.

The forum is part of Sparrow’s continuing mission to promote health and wellness in the mid-Michigan region, and follows a January presentation on epilepsy awareness hosted by the Sparrow Foundation and the MSU Health Team.

Sparrow is a leader in efforts to understand and treat epilepsy. The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Sparrow Hospital uses video and brain monitoring to observe Patients in order to better pinpoint the causes and types of seizures affecting them.

The Sparrow Foundation supports Sparrow’s mission to provide Patients with quality, compassionate health care through funding for equipment, educational programs, services and research.

Choose Wisely. Choose Sparrow.
