Washington Redskins star quarterback and former Michigan State University standout Kirk Cousins highlights the first Greater Lansing Sports Awards banquet, co-sponsored by Sparrow.
The inaugural event, presented by the Lansing State Journal, takes place Tuesday, June 7, at the Lansing Center. Cousins is the keynote speaker.
The awards banquet honors the top players in each Michigan High School Athletic Association-recognized sport in the mid-Michigan region. In addition to being an overall sponsor with the MSU Federal Credit Union, Sparrow is sponsoring the 2016 Team of the Year Award.
Sparrow, the official health system of the MHSAA, is a leader in sports medicine and its role in the event reflects a deep commitment to student athletes in the area.
“The Greater Lansing Sports Awards celebrates all that is right about high school athletics and the communities that support these athletes,” said Lansing State Journal President and Publisher Brian Priester. “We’re grateful to Sparrow for helping make this celebration of our finest student athletes possible.”
Tickets for the Greater Lansing Sports Awards banquet are $50 each.
Sparrow has a broad mission to promote to promote health and wellness among student athletes. Sparrow trainers are present at many high school athletic events, from regular season games to MHSAA tournament events.
Sparrow’s Sports Medicine program offers many services for athletes at all levels, including Physicians, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and athletic and performance trainers. Sparrow also provides speakers at MHSAA functions and events throughout the state who address health issues for student athletes.
