For more than three decades, Patty Pavona, BSN, RN, has been caring for some of Sparrow's tiniest and most vulnerable Patients in the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (RNICU).
Her dedication to providing quality care and her team-focused approach to the job have earned her recognition as this month's RN Caregiver Spotlight.
Sparrow's RN Caregiver Spotlight recognizes one Nurse each month and highlights his/her accomplishments.
"Patty is a role model for Nurses in the unit," said Kathy Marble, MSN, RNC-NIC, Interim Director for OB and Women's Services. "On every shift she brings her passion and love for the job to her fellow Caregivers and Patients. She's never afraid to take on any task that will help to improve the way we provide care."
Pavona was a leader during the iSparrow Electronic Medical Record transition, is a member of the RNICU task force, and recently volunteered to be a Sparrow ambassador for Nurse Magnet recertification.
"I love working with our Patients, the parents, and the Caregivers in the RNICU," Pavona said. "It's been an honor to know that I've helped treat some of the smallest Patients ever to come through Sparrow over the past 35 years. It's such a rewarding experience to see them grow and head home with their families, happy and healthy."
The RNICU at Sparrow Children's Center provides intensive around-the-clock care for premature newborn babies and sick full-term babies. The RNICU team is committed to providing leading-edge technology and outstanding Patient care.
