LANSING, MI – TGIF has special meaning this week -- it’s not just the end of the work week but a great time in Lansing’s Old Town that will benefit cardiovascular care in the mid-Michigan region.

The volunteer Sparrow Hospital Guild will hold The Guild’s Incredible Fundraiser (TGIF) from 6:30-11 p.m. Friday at Lansing’s Old Town Marquee, 319 E. Grand River Avenue. The event will blend music, craft beers, specialty cocktails, delicious hors d’oeurves and socializing into one memorable – and meaningful – evening.

Proceeds will benefit Sparrow’s Thoracic Cardiovascular Institute in order to purchase state-of-the-science equipment such as a cardiac nuclear camera. Tickets are $100 for patrons and $200 for benefactors and may be purchased at sparrowfoundation.org/TGIF.

TCI’s expert Physicians have been bringing leading heart care to Patients in mid-Michigan for over 40 years and are part of the most comprehensive cardiac care in the region.

“They are looking to purchase a couple of nuclear cameras which are going to be used when they do a heart catheterization. It will be a lot less invasive to Patients,” said Deb Ginsburg of the Sparrow Guild. “TCI has been super supportive and we’re very excited about doing something new this year.”

The Guild is comprised of 50 women and, as a group, has been raising funds and supporting Sparrow Hospital for over 90 years. To date, the Guild has raised and donated over $1.3 million, all of which has gone directly to the hospital for a variety of services.

“We are grateful to the Sparrow Guild for helping to enhance cardiovascular care in the Lansing area and allowing TCI to be a beneficiary of the TGIF event,” said Matthew Wilcox, D.O., TCI President. “The equipment we are able to acquire through fundraising activities such as this will make a tremendous difference to our Patients.”
