Thank you to all the hard-working volunteers and generous donors who helped raise $860,695 by the close of the 27th annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Telethon for Sparrow Children’s Center.
The telethon was broadcast live from the Atrium at the Sparrow Professional Building in downtown Lansing from 8-11 p.m. on Friday, May 29, and from noon until 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, on WILX TV 10.
More than 50 families came to share their personal stories about the quality, compassionate care provided to their children by Sparrow Caregivers. Most were first-time participants at the CMNH Telethon, and many said they hope to make it an ongoing commitment.
“This has been an incredible experience for us. I want to stay involved every year from now on to help other families like ours,” said Heidi McGowan, the mother of Sparrow’s 2015 Miracle Child, Garrett McGowan, who was on hand throughout the weekend.
Countless Caregivers and others donated a large part of their weekend to the telethon. Many familiar faces from the Sparrow Leadership team were also on hand to help out in a variety of ways, from manning the phone banks to helping out behind the scenes.
Special kudos also go to this year’s two new co-hosts, Ferguson Development Vice President David Ferguson and MSUFCU President and CEO April Clobes, as well as all the talented crew members from WILX TV 10 headed up by anchor David Andrews.
The 2015 CMNH Telethon may be over but the campaign continues. Please join CMNH spokeswoman Jennifer Lopez and continue to wear your free MiracleBand to help spread the message that local children’s hospitals like the Sparrow Children’s Center rely on your support to provide life-saving care.
