Sparrow Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer Michael Zaroukian, M.D., Ph.D., MACP, FHIMSS, has been elected to serve as Board Chair-Elect of a prestigious national health care information technology (IT) organization.

Dr. Zaroukian’s first term on the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Board of Directors begins July 1. He will become Board Chair in July 2016.

HIMSS is a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization focused on better health through IT.

HIMSS recently granted Stage 7 status to Sparrow for our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) adoption, a designation that reflects Sparrow’s commitment to the highest levels of Patient safety and quality care.

Sparrow is the second hospital in Michigan and one of about 190 hospitals/health systems in the country who have earned Stage 7.
