Belding senior earns Sparrow Ionia Foundation scholarship

The Sparrow Ionia Hospital Foundation has presented a $500 scholarship to Christopher Ornelas, a graduating senior from Belding High School, to help allow him to pursue a career in healthcare.

Christopher plans on continuing his education at Siena Heights University with the goal of becoming a Nurse.

The award was presented by Sandy Brands, Foundation board member, at the recent Belding Senior Class Night.

The Sparrow Ionia Hospital Foundation is a not-for-profit organization and has been providing scholarships for hospital Caregivers pursuing or continuing their education in healthcare for over 20 years. The goal is to help Caregivers achieve their healthcare educational goals and, in turn, encourage them to remain in the area and help bring quality, compassionate care to the Ionia County region.

The scholarship gift was extended four years ago to Ionia County graduating seniors looking to further their education in healthcare. The Foundation this year is awarding a $500 scholarship to at least one senior from each high school in the county.
